Day 1
This is my entry for the Major Jam 3, the theme is making a game in a 96x96 resolution.
First I wanted to push the envelope a little bit making an fps with super low resolution. I quickly made a prototype to see how it could feel. Some problems I wanted to assess are: can you easily read what's on the screen? What's the smallest object you can recognize? How many colors make the screen too muddy?
I came up with this retro wave inspired concept:
It was interesting, but I didn't get inspired by some cool mechanics.
I went on a run and came up with the concept of running from a mob, not to fight them but you have to dodge them. I made another prototype and some cool ideas started flowing. Talking over dinner with some friends we came up with the idea of being a planet running away from asteroids trying to crash on it. We came up with a funny pun for the name and I started working on some of those ideas.
